Will Opera Crypto Browser Shape the Future of Browsers?

Opera announced the launch of the public beta versions of its Web 3.0 browser, the Crypto Browser Project, in a January 19 blog post. The beta versions are currently available for Windows, Mac, and Android device users, for tech-savvy users interested in getting a feel of the future of web browsing.

Of course, Opera’s crypto browser can perform the usual online tasks such as simple browsing and playing instant games on online casino Poland sites or in any other part of the globe for that matter. But then, it differs from its standard browser in more ways than one. As you might have already guessed, it has been purposefully created to focus on simplifying the understanding of blockchain technology – that is what makes it the frontrunner of a new era of browsers.

So, users who may just be getting started in the relatively new and little-known Web 3.0 world will be impressed by what Opera has created. Here’s why this innovative web browser will shape the future of browsers:

A Browser & Wallet Under One Roof

Users will now be able to manage their crypto funds via a non-custodial wallet which at the moment supports various blockchains and cryptocurrencies. Better still, the leading-edge crypto browser is compatible with a wide range of dApps (decentralized applications).

Some of the main integrations with the Crypro Browser are Ethereum, MetaMask, Celo, Nervos, NEAR, Treehouse Finance, Bitcoin, Solana, and Polygon. With the integrations, users can easily switch between apps without logging in to their crypto wallet each time they want to access a different crypto wallet. In addition, a wallet selector tool has been embedded into the interface to smoothen the user experience.

Focus on Privacy and Security

The new crypto browser comes with the no-log-in built browser VPN, an ad-blocker, and a tracker blocker. Well, the millions of users already familiar with the Opera desktop and mobile browsers currently enjoy these features. What makes this crypto edition a bit different is the access to Web 3 sites and apps and the upcoming Layer 2 blockchain support for advancing networks.

As a result, users can buy crypto tokens through a fiat on-ramp and swap their cryptocurrencies. Additionally, the browser has a secure clipboard that implements secure copy-paste of sensitive data and prevents other apps from modifying the user’s wallet.

Keeping Users up to Date with the Crypto World

One of the most interesting bits of this leading-edge browser is that the project targets both the crypto-curious and the crypto-savvy. Thus, to ensure that everyone is kept in the know about the latest developments in the crypto world, Opera has added the Crypto Corner. This is a browser Startpage with links to all the latest news about blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and Web 3 in general.

The page can be accessed when launching the browser or via the left-most tab of the address bar on desktops or the bottom navigation bar in the mobile version. According to Opera, with the amount of information found through the news section, users will be able to select from a variety of reputable blockchain sites and keep track of events and airdrops taking place in the near future. The Crypto Corner also has suggestions of crypto communities that may be interesting to join and access NFT marketplaces. There are also free and paid online courses on Crypto Technology from various sites.

Additionally, multiple social media links have been embedded on the speed dial to usher users into more crypto communities and relevant news and topics that they can explore. The social media links include Discord, Reddit, DappRadar, Crypto Twitter, WhatsApp, and Telegram.

Decentralized Content Ownership

In an interview with CoinDesk, the company’s Executive VP Jorgen Arnesen said that they believed that browsers would play a more major role in Web 3 than they have been doing in Web 2. One main setback of Web 2.0 is that while content is user-generated, it remains the property of the tech companies running the Internet at the moment. With Web 3.0, users can claim ownership of the content, providing a safer and more secure experience.

Welcome To the Future

Since 1994, Norwegian tech company Opera has been at the forefront of web browser development. It has inspired some of the most revolutionary changes that we have seen in other popular browsers borrow to incorporate into their engines. Features such as incognito mode, browser sessions, pop-up blocking, speed dial, and tabbed browsing were first an Opera concept before being adopted by other browsers.

The company also prides itself on developing the world’s first gaming browser, the Opera GX, which has so far enjoyed critical acclaim. As for the crypto browser, there is still not much that’s been disclosed on the project’s inner workings. Therefore, we will have to wait and see how things turn out soon and how it compares to other up-and-coming Web 3 browsers on the market.

Whatever the case, we are on the verge of a breakthrough that will transform the online experiences for users right from the web browser.
